More Progress
This is a view from the deck of the windows of the living room wall. Before, there were three big windows. Now, there are four smaller windows, each with a narrow horizontal window across the top. There are vertical steel beams between each window that extend to the basement.
This is just a little further to the left, showing the rest of the garage wall. You can also see the door of the garage where you enter from the deck.
Inside the living room (still exposed to the elements) on the left side of the fireplace chimney you can see the vertical post and the horizontal beam, which will support the roof.
On the left side you can see the back wall of the garage. Just to the right you see the corner of the living room and in that corner is where the old sliding door was and where the new on will be. In front of the sliding door space the tall window with a slanted top will be replaced.
Inside the living room (still exposed to the elements) on the left side of the fireplace chimney you can see the vertical post and the horizontal beam, which will support the roof.
The top right shows the beam extending across the top side of the kitchen and through to the top of the garage. In the center toward the bottom of the picture you can see the door from the kitchen to the garage. To the left is where the sliding doors will be.
Another view from the living room to the deck, showing the sliding door area and the tall slanted top window.
This picture shows the pipes for the washing machine in the garage all carefully wrapped by Barney Hedberg to protect from freezing in the winter. To the left, you can peek out at the front porch.
You can see more of Barney's wrapped pipes on the lower left of this picture. The white box on the right is for the water faucets for the washer. Below that are more pipes, which will be wrapped like the others. You can get a glimpse of the kitchen right between the joists.

Construction Beginning
Looking through the hallway to where the kitchen used to be.
Standing on the deck looking through the windows to the living room.
Here's a dramatic view of the chimney showing just how exposed the living room is.
Looking through the living room windows toward the area where the garage was.
Not sure whats going to happen with the kitchen sink!
Showing the stairway down to the basement on the right and on the left the very large supply of firewood that came as a result of the fallen tree.
Some of the new foundation on the left and new wall next to basement. The basement door is right behind me.
Looking through the livingroom windows, you can see the fireplace on the right and the kitchen on the left.
From the deck, you can see where the garage was--plywood covering where the garage door was.
You are in the living room where you can see the fireplace still standing, luckily!
Another view of the fireplace through the new window. In the center you can see a remnant of the green shag carpet.
Looking through the living room windows toward the area where the garage was.
The recently repaired microwave, the stove top and kitchen cabinets are all salvageable; the refrigerator is still good.
Looking past the refrigerator through where the kitchen wall was out to where the garage was.
Another view of the same, but on the far right you can see a little bit of the deck.
Standing to the right of the front door, looking down the hallway toward the bedrooms.
This was my favorite bowl! It was on the dining room table when the tree fell. The light fixture above fell and broke the bowl.
This photo was take from the deck above. You can see the tree stump below. It's shaped like a heart!
Another closer view of the tree stump; about 4ft across.
A view of the basement, which will look much different with better walls when the repairs are done.
Showing some of the new cement foundation in the basement.
A dark corner of the basement. You can see part of the refrigerator on the right. This was in the garage and now in the basement.
Some tools in the basement.
The furnace is intact.
Some of the new foundation on the left and new wall next to basement. The basement door is right behind me.
New wall being built to the right of the stairway, which needs a lot of work!
This is the front view of the house.
A broken lamp in an empty bedroom.
Another view of the living room and deck.
